The Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme is making a significant investment in the development of 21st century schools to transform education for children, young people and communities.
BSF investment is being used to improve the life chances of children and young people by providing 21st century learning in stimulating environments with facilities that can enable every young person to develop their talents and achieve their very best.
This involves a creative and innovative workforce engaged in developing new approaches to learning, teaching and working, while also making enthusiastic use of new technologies and facilities and forging new relationships with parents, carers, communities and a range of partners within, across and beyond schools.
As well as raising the aspirations and achievements of young people, BSF projects should make a significant contribution to positioning schools at the heart of their communities in ways that capture the imagination and meet the needs of children, young people and the wider community. Central to this will be engaging all partners and making links to wider regeneration projects in ways that drive ambition and increase social capital.
The download Expectations of Transformation with Building Schools for the Future includes an overview of the scope of the ambition, the involvement and the types of impact from the programme. It is intended that this, along with the other information linked to from this page, will stimulate discussion and further consideration for all those preparing for and engaged in the BSF programme.
Further reading, resources and case studies will continue to be added to this section of the site to sign-post opportunities for support and development. If you have any suggestions please email them to us.
Expectations of Transformation with BSF has been produced in collaboration with the following organisations, who work very closely with PfS to support transformation with BSF and can provide support to those preparing for or engaged in the programme.
