Director, Technology & Planning: Russell Andrews

Russell works widely with a range of educational and construction partners on behalf of Partnerships for Schools.

As Director of Technology & Planning, Russell oversees a team responsible for supporting schools and local authorities as they develop their pupil place planning, ICT and design strategy for capital investment.

Russell has worked at a senior level in local authorities on school effectiveness and estate planning and prior to that taught for 16 years. Before entering teaching Russell trained and worked in the engineering sector as a graduate design engineer, engaged in a number of civil and nuclear construction projects.

He is also a governor at a school that has recently been through a successful re-build programme.

The Technology & Planning Team's key responsibility is to ensure that local authorities and schools develop a sound approach to planning for capital investment. This will include a review of pupil projections and the development of ICT strategies. The Design team carry a broader remit to develop advice and guidance on all aspects of schools design and to advise Ministers on the development of policy.
